Diabetes

Regular medical care is important for people with diabetes. Key members of patient care teams include:

• physicians, who perform exams and make sure all aspects of diabetes care are being met

• endocrinologists, who are physicians with advanced training in the care of patients with diabetes

• diabetes educators, who provide patients with information and instruction in daily skills needed to self-manage diabetes

• registered dietitians, who help patients develop meal plans to meet nutritional needs
